About Us

 

Lamb Inn is a family business, owned by Jóhannes Geir Sigurgeirsson (who was born and bred at Öngulsstaðir Farm), his wife Ragnheiður Ólafsdóttir (the National Power Company‘s environmental manager) and his daughter and son-in-law, Guðný Jóhannesdóttir and Karl Jónsson.

 

In 1996 the Öngulsstaðir Tourism Services opened the initial guesthouse and restaurant in the farm‘s converted barn and cowshed. In the beginning the business was entirely family run but during 2004 – 2012 it was leased out. Since his resuming the business in 2012, Jóhannes has based the firm on the concept behind Lamb Inn. As indicated by the name, the emphasis is on the restaurant and serving the Icelandic lamb, the term "Inn" bearing an international reference to a place offering food, drink and accommodation. In 2013, Guðný and Karl moved to Öngulsstaðir and bought a 50% share in the firm, formally owned by their company called Markvert Holding.

 

The whole family is involved in running Lamb Inn. Karl is the managing director. Karl and Jóhannes share the responsibilities of day to day operations and planning. Guðný works part time at Lamb Inn, along with her unviersity studies and her and Karl‘s children; Árdís Eva, Haukur Sindri and Skírnir Már, all work in the guesthouse during the summer and also step in when needed off season.

Jólaboð 2018

Þá fer senn að líða að Jólaboðum Lamb Inn. Við köllum þetta jólaboð frekar en jólahlaðborð því stemningin sem við getum búið til fyrir gesti okkar minnir frekar á fjölskyldujólaboð en hefðbundið jólahlaðborð með 30 réttum og yfirfullum veitingasal. Hjá okkur fá nefnilega hópar að hafa allan salinn út af fyrir sig. Sérstaða okkar felst í því að við erum úti í sveit, fjarri skarkala miðbæjarins og hér er hópurinn saman, enginn að stinga af. Við höfum líka Gamla bæinn sem hægt er að heimsæka fyrir mat og jafnvel þiggja þar fordrykk, okkar eigin kokteil sem við köllum Öngulsstaðahrepp. Sannkallaður tungubrjótur, en er okkar.
